1. Spring has sprung and we are finally emerging from what will heretofore be referred to as The Absolute Worst Winter Ever. I can't recall ever being as affected by the cold months as this year. Maybe it's just me, but the drape of general darkness brought with last fall's time change seemed to be way more intense this go around. Seriously, it was pitch black outside from like 4pm-7am. I'm not sure I have ever been so happy to see and feel the sun's actual unhindered-by-clouds rays...even if only through the windows in the hall outside my library or through the sun roof on our brief commute from school-land to home-land. Just a few moments of warmth and sunlight feels so...nice.
It's the little things, y'all.
*Feel free to remind me of this when I'm bemoaning the heat in July.
2. A few months back Team Wilson finally arrived at a point (as in child age and ability and proper equipment for all) where we could bike as a family. We are really close to a state park with ample trails, and a little sweet shop for a reward if we make it to our mile goal of the day. Also, our neighborhood developers finally paved the stretch of road just beyond us, and with no new houses on that strip yet we basically live in a mile-long cul-de-sac. Totally perfect for us right now, and we have even found some interesting trails in the forest behind our home. I'm 100% sure one of us is going to get snake bitten back there, but whatevs, right? YOLO and all that.
3. We are just coming off Spring Break and 5/5 of us are rather bitter that we got to have a whole week of fun and freedom and now it's back to the grind. We hit up a few of our favorite parts of the city, featuring lots of ice cream and coffee and popsicles, Sassafras on a skateboard, Pearl petting a chinchilla, and little Love throwing gravel in the science museum's fossil pit. Good times, good times.
Just two more months and we can live like this every week, right?
