Share a library management tip. What is one thing that you do that works for you? How could it be adapted by others?
Other than establishing a method for gathering and tracking tech support data, the largest piece of managing the library program at my school is the schedule. Because our school does not have a computer lab apart from the bank of machines in the library, this place is a hotbed of activity. It is not unusual to get multiple requests for the same days and time periods.
To keep a handle on all of this, I use a dedicated calendar within Microsoft Outlook. I share that calendar with the faculty at the beginning of the school year, and then they can have access to view availability anytime. Teachers send requests for dates and I add it to the calendar after comparing their request to others happenings in the school, district, and library.
It's pretty simple but definitely works well for us!
