Blogging Challenge for School Librarians, Day 5

How do you booktalk to your students? How often do you booktalk? Do you have resources that you use for this?

The very best booktalk experiences are informal ones, and orchestrated in a normal conversation with students. Thanks to all of the book-to-movie adaptations flooding the media right now, there are scores of opportunities to booktalk literature that is similar to what the kids like but may not know about yet.

Book fair week definitely affords many of these opportunities as well, both to learn about the newest trends in YA lit as well as having natural conversations with students about books that they might enjoy.

Above all, reading up as much young adult literature as possible is the single best way to prepare for every possible opportunity to booktalk with students!
